Explore the exciting world of literacy by embarking on a Spy Mission to decode words using phonics. Dive into learning and refining skills such as sound blending, word segmentation, sight word recognition, and comprehension to enhance phonological awareness. Get to know the Wonderlit Sounds Monsters through fun-filled and interactive activities. Race against time to collect secret clues and decrypt word puzzles, ultimately saving the day from The Scrambler.

 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify letter sounds (A – Z) and develop letter recognition skill.
  2. Blend short vowels, digraphs and letters to form words (up to 5 sounds).
  3. Acquire 50 sight words or more to expand vocabulary.
  4. Read developmentally appropriate sentences and passages to build the fundamentals of reading.
  5. Develop pre-writing skills through fine motor writing and craft activities.

For 3 to 5 years old
5 half days / 9 AM to 12 PM or 2 PM to 5 PM

Delve into the wacky world of acclaimed children’s author, Roald Dahl’s, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”!  Complete thrilling literary challenges to gain exclusive access to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. Solve encryptions by decoding words and reading hidden messages. Advance from reading to comprehension and learn to harness the power of deductive reasoning by solving puzzles and uncovering the secrets of the chocolate factory.

 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn to decode multisyllabic words which include short/long vowels, graphemes and silent sounds.
  2. Foster critical thinking skills to enhance the ability to comprehend text.
  3. Develop comprehension skills (inference, retelling, sequence and, compare and contrast).
  4. Enhance reading fluency, comprehension skill, phonetic spelling, and build vocabulary.
  5. Cultivate a reading habit and appreciation for books.

For 6 to 8 years old

Unleash imagination by developing superhero personas and defeating villains using special powers learnt in class. From building the foundations of narrative and descriptive writing, creating fictional settings, to sequencing events whilst increasing vocabulary. Let’s save the world together and start nurturing the love for writing today!

  1. Expose to a diverse range of writing genres and techniques.
  2. Expand vocabulary, idioms, phrasal verbs and similes, and enhance familiarity with sight words.
  3. Apply literary and language techniques to writing scenarios.
  4. Practise penmanship through writing exercises.
  5. Improve writing stamina through sentence and short paragraph construction.

For 5 to 6 years old
5 half days / 2 PM to 5 PM

Start an epic writing adventure at our time-bending writing camp, where young spinners of tales will trek through major time periods and craft captivating stories based on the past, present and future. Writing workshops will guide them through the writing process as they explore a variety of genres that include report writing, poetry, procedural writing, emails and speculative fiction.   1. Write and analyse diverse range of writing genres from situational writing to fiction.
  2. Acquire knowledge of thematic vocabulary and literary techniques in different eras of civilisation.

For 7 to 9 years old

Boost confidence and presence in public speaking, presentations and show-and-tell by developing essential rhetoric skills, from preparing a speech and overcoming stage fright to delivering an impactful speech. Turn the world into a stage, discover your voice and unleash the confident presenter from within.

  1. Hone creative and critical thinking skills in constructing a coherent speech.

  2. Strengthen voice projection, pronunciation, articulation and enunciation.
  3. Elevate the use of vocal expression and body language to captivate the audience.
  4. Learn to use index cards to facilitate speech delivery.
  5. Develop stage confidence and presence.

For 6 to 8 years old

Explore public speaking by learning to present nuanced topics in both local and global current affairs. Sharpen critical thinking skills by developing techniques to analyze news articles and form personal opinions. Master the stage and deliver a compelling presentation with conviction, while keeping a discerning audience in mind.

  1. Learn to synthesise and cite news articles and supporting materials.
  2. Develop critical thinking skills in crafting a coherent speech that incorporates opinions.
  3. Learn to use index cards to facilitate speech delivery.
  4. Develop skills to speak with power, persuasion and voice modulation.
  5. Build stage confidence and presence.

For 9 to 12 years old
5 half days / 9 AM to 12 PM or 2 PM to 5 PM

Embark on an exciting voyage around the world to discover the essence of theater through captivating tales from distant lands, inspired by popular works from Maurice Sedak and the renowned fabulist, Aesop. Immerse in stories and texts of different origins through drama play, acting and material crafting. Conclude the adventure with an on-stage presentation to parents at the end of the camp!

  1. Learn vocal dynamics to enhance speech pronunciation, articulation and enunciation.
  2. Dramatise reading pieces and stories to perform before an audience.
  3. Develop the use of imagination within defined boundaries.
  4. Learn to share and speak up clearly, coherently and confidently.
  5. Build social interaction skills and teamwork.

For 3 to 5 years old
5 half days / 9 AM to 12 PM 

Dive into the world of children’s classics – Alice in Wonderland, The Nutcracker and more …but with a twist. Explore the content through drama play, acting and script work and reimagine the stories with unique plot twists and endings. End off with a showcase of the personalised story in a thrilling performance for the parents.

  2. Develop voice modulation through dramatisation of scripts and literary texts before an audience.
