Upper Primary

Age: 1112 years old
Class Size: 10 maximum
Class Duration: 1 hour 45 mins

In the Write Upper Primary programme, we integrate exam-ready skills with creative writing to cater to diverse student profiles, whether from international backgrounds, mainstream local (MOE) schools, or beyond. Our students will engage with more sophisticated genres, including both fictional and non-fictional writing, as well as situational writing, all aimed at enhancing their writing purpose, audience awareness, and contextual understanding of literature and language. They will have numerous opportunities to refine their craft while developing the essential skills needed for school-based assessments.

At this level, our students will focus on genres commonly featured in school examinations and assessments. At the beginning of each term, they will analyse mentor texts that exemplify these literary genres, encouraging them to grasp authorial intent and stylistic elements.

Throughout the term, our students will engage in targeted writing exercises designed to build their exam-specific techniques, such as outlining, structuring essays, and developing plots and arguments. They will also have opportunities to showcase their creativity while acquiring invaluable literary and language skills, ensuring they are well-prepared for their examinations.
