Write

Hone children’s expressiveness and creativity through the power of writing.

In line with our goal to unlock creativity and develop confident communicators, we believe that writing is a powerful platform for children to develop their own unique voices, exercise their creative imagination and master techniques of language use. Writing creatively enables children to enhance their critical thinking, develop empathy, and encourage curiosity about the world around them, as they learn how to create characters, events and places with an awareness of readership, purpose and context.

The Wonderlit Write programme is designed to inspire a lifelong love for language and literature in our children and impart foundational knowledge for the impactful expression of their creativity through various forms of writing. Lessons are specifically tailored to enhance vocabulary, inculcate principles of grammar and introduce students to a wide range of textual forms and contexts that would support their growth as writers. Students will receive training in a wide range of literary forms including poetry and prose fiction, as well as situational writing, such as letters, articles and interviews. Our curriculum is also structured to develop students’ critical thinking and social skills, as they learn how to articulate their ideas with a consciousness of readership and provide constructive peer feedback.

Our programme is distinct in its long-term objective to promote creative writing as a lifelong passion beyond the confines of the classroom. Students from every age group will be asked to write journal entries each week, allowing them to document and reflect upon their experiences in meaningful ways. Time is allocated at the start of every lesson for students to share their entries and engage with one another. Moreover, our students will receive personalised attention and guidance to help them hone their craft and give life to their creative aspirations. Lessons will culminate in an end-of-year published project that varies across each age group.
