At Wonderlit, we believe in unleashing the imaginations of our children and empowering them with the confidence to tell their infinite stories of wonder. Through our public speaking classes, we hope to develop children’s ability to articulate their thoughts with conviction and clarity, a crucial life skill for a successful future in an increasingly interconnected world. After all, great stories come from great storytellers.
In our Wonderlit Speak programme, we aim to enhance our children’s ability to speak up and voice their opinion, eloquently engage in meaning conversations and interviews, and confidently present to a live audience, captivating them with a clear, expressive voice and a strong presence.
Thoughtfully designed, our Wonderlit Speak curriculum covers a comprehensive scope aimed at elevating communication skills in our students. This highly demanded public speaking course for children encompasses voice and speech work, utilising reading aloud exercises to improve students’ enunciation and modulation. It also focuses on developing impromptu speaking, conversation, and interview skills to advance their ability to authentically and cohesively share ideas and thoughts. For show-and-tell and presentations, students will hone their skills in scripting their stories using mind-mapping and sequencing tools and deliver them in a compelling way, engaging the audience with their speech, facial expressions, hand gestures, and stage movements. Using drama as a tool to enrich our children’s experience, our curriculum will overall help develop their reading, public speaking, and listening skills, as well as their creative thinking, critical thinking, and collaboration skills.
To deliver an international standard of quality for communications and prepare our students for their school’s examinations, we incorporate the frameworks and requirements of Trinity College London (Communication Skills) and the Singapore Ministry of Education into our lessons. Our students will have the opportunity to showcase their newly acquired skills through a graded Communication Skills examination in partnership with Trinity College London, held at the Wonderlit studio at the end of every year. This examination celebrates their dedication to preparation, research, practice, and the display of proficiency in communication skills, serving as a testament to their growth as effective communicators. Additionally, at the end of term 2 and term 4, our students will be afforded the chance to present to a live audience of parents at our platform stage, allowing them to flaunt their amazing progress.
Start your child’s oratorical journey in our public speaking classes today. Our holistic approach, combined with a nurturing and supportive environment, allows children to unlock their full potential and equip them with invaluable public speaking skills for a lifetime of success.
