Early Reader
Age: 4.5–7 years old
Class Size: 10 maximum
Class Duration: 1 hour 30 mins
In the Early Reader programme, we focus on inculcating good reading habits and imparting intermediate sound manipulation skills. Our students will be introduced to long vowels, schwa and silent sounds. They will also be exposed to words that challenge phonics principles, including sight words. This leads to mastery of word decoding skills, enabling them to spell essential sight words and familiar words phonetically.
Our students will be instructed to read a variety of fictional and non-fictional texts independently for short periods of time. Through these, they will develop intermediate blending and segmenting skills of short and long vowels.
Additionally, students will also develop fundamental comprehension skills which encourages them to analyse and utilize information acquired from stories and passages.
